You've never thought that you needed it, but you definitely will
The Extension Brake Mount Kit +0/+1,5/+3/+4,5 is our professional way to mount your brake caliper and be able to adjust its height.
Let's elaborate: Shimano has 203mm rotors (8"), a common size of rotors for bicycles. Sram said, they would go for a more metrical solution and make it 200mm. In some cases you can mount a standard caliper on a 200mm Rock Shox fork and use a 203mm rotor.
But sometimes, even if you did your research right and have the components as they should fit - it does not. Tolerances of post mounts and the width of brake rotors are sometimes a bit unpredictable and can result in frustrating situations when trying to mount and adjust your brake caliper.
With our brake mount kit you are able to adjust that perfectly, no matter how bad the misalignment is. Besides, the pure black titianium bolts look pretty neat & clean.
What's included:
1. A grade 5 titanium bolt coated with black PVD , specifically designed for brake mounting. The initial surface of the bolt is not threaded, to prevent scratching your precious brake caliper. Bolt head features a 5mm allen key socket.
2. A thin grade 5 black titanium washer
3. A thick grade 5 black titanium washer
* You have PM200/220 and want to use a 203/223 rotor? Put the thick washer between caliper and fork/frame.
* You have a rotor which has the exact diameter specified by your post mount? Don't put any washer between caliper and frame/fork.
* You have a rotor which has a slightly wider diameter than specified? Put the thin washer between caliper and frame/fork.
* In most combinations you will have a spare washer left. Put it between bolt head and caliper. Or don't if you are a total weight weenie. The bolt head diameter measures 11mm, and therefore does not potentially damage your caliper like most regular bolts would do, if tightened strongly and used without a washer.
* In the rarest case you may have to put both washers underneath the caliper? This would give you a stack representing a 4,5mm roto disc. If you should ever find yourself in such a situation, please let us know so we can enlist it here ;)
